They look like CTO's. cutout from the blank postcard type.IMO
Given the paper color and thickness.
They could also be postaly used examples also.The cancel would be the same anyway.

Your cancel was issued for the Leipzig Spring Trade Fair. The fair has been an event since the Middle Ages. This particular cancel is one of 15 varieties which you can determine from the letter below the double "M" symbol. Looks like an "i" or an "l". It is likely a favor cancel but I don't put that into the same category as a CTO.

There are tens of thousands of varieties of special cancels on German stamps. A very interesting area to collect but you really have to have a focus or you will find yourself with boxes and boxes of material.

Thank you Germania - a Favor Cancel, I will read up on that as well - and also see if I can determine the letter under the double M. I knew it was not used, I just didn't really know what to call it.

Just for fun, what appears to be a Spanish language label for the Leipizig Fair. Same era as your postmark, Mitra75

And another German language for the Autumn Fair 1934

Hi jamesw,
You inquired in another forum about the MM stamp back in 2015. 'jaysee' replied with

Quote:
MM = Muster-Messe
Your Leipzig Fair label is in Portuguese.
I'm not sure what it was used for, but it comes in several languages. Below you can see German, English, French, Esperanto, Polish, Spanish, Italian & Portuguese versions
