My approach to these was to make a key for the 'master' type, i.e. the Scott type without the overprint. The key identifies the stamp by type and Scott number and is followed by a list of all the "see also" footnotes for that type. I then simply look at each entry until I, hopefully, find the one I'm tracking or trying to identify. I know of no easy way to do it. I have had better luck with Scott's than the other specialized Chinese catalogs in most instances.s |

Sorry, Tina. It's been a long day and a long drive. I've just got settled in after a final meeting. Now I just found out I have to drive several hours back home again because they have to redo my father-in-law's procedure. Poor guy, he has to go through it all again -- and he's not even at the major surgery stage yet. Anyway, I'm thinking Tina probably doesn't have the SG catalog, so here is the translation into Scott (good work rod222 and friend): Row 1 (left to right) L = China 621(1945) M = China 847(1948) R = China, Northeastern Provinces 7(Apr1946) Row 2 (left to right) L = China, Meng Chiang (Inner Mongolia) 2N78(1942) M = China, Northeastern Provinces 9(Apr1946) R = China 686(1946-1947) Please note, the stamps are China as in ROC, Republic of China -- not PRC, People's Republic of China. I don't have a current Scott catalog with me (on the road), but these should all be low value stamps. Nice stamps to have, though, and your copies are clean with good colors. Thanks for providing me a well-needed break, Tina! k |

If I hadn't tried to help, I wouldn't have discovered the Inner Mongolia issue, I had the devil's job finding it in Stanley Gibbons It is a Chinese stamp, with Chinese Opt hiding under J for Japan no hint of it, in the SG Index. There's a Zen thing happening when you help others, invariably you help yourself |

Sorry, Tina. You will have to post a bigger scan for these failing eyes of mine. Maybe split it into 2 scans with higher resolution. A couple of the stamps have different printings that can only be discerned by a small difference in the stroke of one of the characters on the stamp.
The 2 right stamps in the bottom row are interesting, as they are China overprints on Manchurian stamps.
Someone else can give it a shot, but I will need bigger pics, please.
