Is this what is called "dry ink"?

Perf 14.25 x 14, rough paper.

If so, the tear from the bottom, going diagonaliy NW through P of Penny to S of Postage is a shame.

Appears similar to dry ink copies. Interesting viewing, the v along the roos back is not due to dry ink....seen copies with same on 1d Green.

Thanks, finches. The more I think about it, and if it is under-inked rather than dry ink (if there is a difference) the poor impression could be caused by the rough paper. Of all the side faces I have, particularly 1d,1 1/2d, and 2d reds, I have only found two so far so it's a learning curve.
