That was a real puzzler, took 3 months to deliver?
L.C. Room (Letter Carriers Room)
Undelivered mail was "called" in the Letter Carriers (LC) Room. If the
addressee was known, the letter was delivered or forwarded, If unknown, the item was advertised: see "Philately from Australia" (March 2014)

Any idea of Swiss "Brief Expedition" meaning?

Letter shipping

But, of course, if it is anything like today's mail, perhaps it took a short expedition along the way

Thanks Frank,
I could get the gist of expedition, from "Askphil" Germany.
However could not pin an adjective..."shipping" is great

Philatelic material purchased from Singletons Budget Newspaper proprietor A. Morrisons descendants in the 1980's including the 'Double Slug' error envelope. Remote chance the Fraulein immigrated bringing the letter back to the Hunter Valley. Before passing, mum had mentioned Donkey ownership was popular with European girls, she owned one.

The Budget was a Singleton paper acquired by Alex Morrison, of Scottish descent, in 1894, when it was published in George-street. Former owner, William Connolly later worked for Morrison for 30/ a week. Connolly later became general manager of the Sydney Morning Herald.

The plant was later moved and extended in the owner's property in John-street, where it closed down in February, 1955, due to extensive damage by river flooding. (The plant was near the banks of the Hunter River). The George-street property was severely damaged by fire. Alex was a keen philatelic & Aboriginal artifacts collector, he died in 1955.

Philatelists / collectors whom maintain an accurate reference regime with their stamps and albums, are a rare breed.
Entropy is the usual status.
