So I'm interested in collecting some modern used examples of the forever global stamps on cover. I've sent S.A.S.E's to post offices in the US before but I wouldn't be able to do that trick with foreign post offices.

Or maybe I can and I'm just not clever enough to figure it out.

I'm not interested in buying used covers--it's more fun to acquire them through trading or through S.A.S.E (but, I don't know anyone overseas to trade with).

Any ideas? Thanks!

If you know someone in a foreign country you could send mail and ask to have the cover returned ?

You might try attending a stamp show (though that might be difficult as things are today) and I'm sure you can find some very inexpensive examples.

Personally I think hunting through piles of covers at stamps shows is lots of fun.

My local stamp show is scheduled for April 18-19th..

After just listening to the CDC state things are going to get worse before they get better, I'm not optimistic that the show will still go on.

however, hopefully I am wrong. And even if I'm not, i'll be sure to look through covers at the next show I attend (whenever that ends up being) :D

You need a friendly trading partner outside the US. You should be able to find someone on the forum to step up.

Dgwhite87, I believe I read somewhere a while ago that the forever stamps were to be used to pay postage to anywhere in the USA only. Wouldn't anything outside of the USA normally incure more cost being at a different rate? Anyway, when you get over 50 posts, contact me and I can mail you a couple sent up here to Canada.
Mike

Edit: corrected spelling, darn autofill.

The Global Forever stamps are being used for multi-ounce mailings by some of the stamp clubs; however, these are large Kraft envelopes, and the stamps are rarely cancelled.

You are welcome to send a few covers to my grandchildren abroad, and hope that they remember to bring them on their next visit ...

... but if you want to make sure that they are cancelled, you might need a Mailer's Postmark Permit.

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

Appreciate all the responses and I understand and will follow the rules :D

Thankfully, I save all the envelopes I receive from past ebay purchases and I have a few from overseas, I'm going to contact them and see if they're willing to help out. Once I reach 50 posts I'll start looking for trades.

I do like what I call" authentic mail from Ireland. About five years ago I got a lot of covers from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s and they add a depth and texture to my collection so that I like mint, used and aythentically used mail.
Of course national mail is always easier to get than international mail.
So about five years ago, I started sending international rate stamps to friends and relatives in other countries and asked them to send it back to me. It works well as I can get a nice mix of countries. It works even better when the stamp has a relevance to the country that I am sending it to.
Thus I was able to send I think three envelopes with the Martin Luther King stamp to three friends in USA and I got two Nelson Mandela stamps back from Australia and England but sadly not South Africa.
I have also got back a Fatima stamp addressed to Portugal. And Che Guevara stamps (actually national rate) back from Argentina and Cuba.
I wish you well with this project.
