"from domestic violence to fraudsters preying on vulnerable households"
Those are certainly the types of crime that I would expect to increase.....especially without sports to help act as a safety valve regarding domestic violence. |

I believe that the preparation some are undertaking is not for the here and now but rather based upon the fear of, whether you agree or not, the pandemic truly becoming widespread, with a very high mortality rate and the supply chain not functioning (food shortages, no petrol), first responders unable to respond, the banks closed and so on. In that apocalyptic lawless world it is likely that it would be every man and woman for themselves and it would be prudent to have some means of effective self-protection as well as plenty of toilet paper.

The whole point of closing things down now is to prevent that possibility from occurring. However much we all love stamps, opening Mystic under these conditions is an unnecessary danger to everyone. Size of the warehouse not withstanding. |

I fail to see how reopening Mystic for mail orders is an unnecessary danger but package stores being open for walk-in business is just fine. |

Because few people are actually walking in, and they are not staying long when they do. And they are keeping separated to a reasonable distance, at least in my experience so far. And that is in a high volume, high density area. But 150 people staying all day in one place when no one can know how many others they have been in contact with is a different matter. |

"Does it make sense for 30 workers to report and distance themselves 50 feet apart and observing the recommended hygiene protocols...."

"And I should add the location with the most cases so far in the US."
Camden NY is in the northwest part of Oneida County. It is 273 miles away from NYC.
A great example of why what applies to one location may not be the best solution for another location. Testing and granular data will be invaluable so that common sense decisions can be made. |

That would require a 150x500 foot space at least. And how are they getting there? And what are they doing about lunch? And how can they possibly do all the work they have to do without moving around? And why does this matter anyway? They only sell overpriced mediocre material for the most part. |

So they have to pump gas, which appears to be one of the most dangerous things one can do right now. And shutting down has to be at the state level, not at the local level. And since the virus can go undetected for several days, the fact that there are few cases in one location does not mean anything about how many there might be 3 or 5 or 7 days later. Right now, it is best to err on the side of caution instead of playing into greed. Which is what it often seems to be. All too often so far, the people who want things to open up again are the people who are losing big bucks right now, and I don't mean workers. |

Yes, it does spread quickly thus the reason it is a pandemic. Don't go to Yahoo for your information though. Utilize the CDC and other government sites. Heck, MSNBC tweeted out a few days ago that 50% of Americans would die from the virus and had to delete it 20 minutes later.
You have convinced me Rev that America should shut down completely for as long as it takes regardless of what the granular data shows and sit "in the bunker". Every city and town should be treated like NYC and LA and NOLA. No exceptions no matter what sense it makes. After all, an economic death is not as important as a virus death. Right? |

There are ways to avoid economic death. Some have been discussed on line. I go to a wide range of sites for information and then compare as I go. Both good and bad info can come from almost any site. |
