Nice additions, Bob. I especially like your Egypt. Looks to be in good condition. (Often those aren't, for some reason. The method of use, perhaps?) |

Thank you very much! One more to the list: The 5 BOLIVARES has a nice price, even when nobody is really sure this was really used or not so they are probably cinderellas... |

Not sure: there might be a Re1000 stamp as well. Still, Re500 was equivalent to about $US300 at the time, so a fairly high value. |

The "Know all men" is standard language for a legal document's preamble...must've been quite the contract back in the day, to draw a $300 tax.
I'm generally fine with cut squares and soaked stamps, but this is one of those occasions where it would've been interesting to see the whole thing... |

This is a manuscript share transfer for 20 shares in the Punjab Sugar Works Co. Limited, from 1885. It has a Re5 duty stamp attached: I have no idea what the shares were worth, and the document doesn't say. It has a Power of Attorney attached, with a New South Wales 1/- duty stamp, and a certificate by the Justice of the Peace (and stockbroker) for the Power of Attorney. The certificate refers to 'an Act made and passed in the ninth year of the reign of Her present Majesty intituled An Act for the more effectual abolition of Oaths and Affirmations taken and made in various Departments of the Government of New South Wales and to substitute Declarations in lieu thereof and for the suppression of voluntary and extra-judicial Oaths and Affidavits'. They don't write titles of Acts like that any more, more's the pity! |

Not sure if this has been posted before but if anyone has any info I'd be grateful. It's a GB Mayor's Court Proof [so I'm told] but what did the issued item look like and would this Proof copy be listed anywhere ? Londonbus1 |
