From your question I infer you do not have a catalog. You will likely eventually want a Scotts Specialized to help with identification and with judging relative value. In ordinary times, you could likely borrow one from a public library, but many of them are closed now.
There are a variety of online tools available as well, some of which are easier to use than Scotts.
You might find

You will want a perforation gauge (there is a printable one at Stamp Smarter) and eventually you would need to get into watermark detection. Plenty of threads here on the Forum about that when the time comes.
