I inherited a stamp collection and have used siegelauctions and the swedishtiger websites to help identify most stamps.

I would appreciate any opinion on whether I have identified the following 3 Franklins correctly.

I'm not sure if I have a 6R1E or 6R1L. Looks like it might be recut, but the lower left ornament is more pronounced like the early plate version.

Top and bottom stamps are recut at bottom, thus Plate 1L Ty IV.
I'll check the plating when I get time, but both top & bottom stamps are top row right pane plate 1L for sure.

Middle stamp is 99R2, Ty III, Scott 8. Congrats on that.

Top and bottom stamps are both definitely 8R1L, Ty IV, #9.

This looks like its going to be a pretty nice collection.

The 99R2 is a serious stamp.
Is it sound?

Yes, the 99R2 is very sound. No creases, tears or thins.

Thank you for evaluating my stamps. If the top is late plate, I believe it is position 6, not 8. Also, I'm surprised at how pronounced the ornaments are on the bottom stamp. Are all three stamps worth getting a cert?

The top stamp is mint with gum, but could possibly be regummed.

Mongoose, the Type IV examples are both recut twice at bottom, so cannot be 6R1L. I believe txstamp is correct, and both are 8R1L

Should you get a cert? I wouldn't bother for the 1st or 3rd but if you are planning on selling the 99R2 would be more attractive to a potential buyer if they are assured of its soundness. If you don't plan on selling, I wouldn't cert it until you do. Just my opinion.

It's an early printing from plate 1L, before it wore significantly.
Probably printed in the second half of 1852.
