In this landscape oriented stamp is the watermark sideways or right ways up? If not sideways, are sideways watermarks in this stamp common?
Thanks
greg

Mine is watermark sideways, top of crown pointing to the Left when viewed from the front. This appears normal for this series.

I gather you refer to the 1883-1884 two pence halfpenny stamp from the unified issue known as "Lilac and Greens." Scott is not much used in Europe. The landscape stamps in this set have sideways "Imperial Crown" watermark. When viewed from the back, the normal orientation is for the crown to point right. All are known with sideways inverted watermark: i.e., the crown points left when seen from the gummed side.
