Hi,

I bought a Machin collection off of an auction and the album came the other day. I am attaching a scan of the first page in the album.

Can anyone help identify where this album design is from? The paper appears to be ordinary copy paper and there are no identifying marks on either side of the page(s).

As you can see the stamps are identified (MH1, MH2...), the Northern Ireland issues are numbered MIMH1... and Scotland SMH1... and Wales WMMH1...

I'm kind of curious as to where the pages came from and would appreciate help.

-Larry

I can't help with the album identification but I just wanted to say the page design looks very nice. Lots of space and nicely grouped.

Did you buy it from Great Britain? I am thinking maybe the seller would know a little about the page design or where the collector was from?

No, it was bought in the US and the original owner was quite definitely American.

There was a variety of papers in the album, including a number of newspaper clippings, and its quite clear the originator was American. Also, the paper is 8.5x11 and most definitely not A4.

I agree about the page layout, hence my question.

(its really quite sad in a way. I suspect that this was a portion of an estate sale. In addition to the pages, there was a glassine with a number of stamps yet to mounted. I would guess the collector took things to a point, passed and then the heirs bundled things off and I get to handle his prized efforts.)

Nicely done album Larry

If however, you want more information on the Machin stamps, you might want to try this url http://www.gbmachins.co.uk/

The man is quite knowledgeable on Machins and I do know him personally.
