Pretty clever and pretty interesting. I could have sworn I also looked at that position on Plate 2L but must not have spent enough time with it!

Some brownish carmines with complimentary blue cancels. Anyone know what the town in light blue at bottom right might be?

The stamp at top left is a reddish brownish carmine variety. It is an early plate 1L printing that shows virtually no plate wear. The finest details, like the inner rosette ring, where the arrow is pointing in the closeup, aren't worn away yet.

Thanks, Moyock13. I didn't see the fourth letter as a possible R before. Now it seems to be a good fit for LaCrosse Wisconsin, including the light blue color, based on the image in this lot:
