Dean,

I ONLY use photobucket. It works easy and clean.
Copy the second link of the 4 at photobucket.
Come to SCF and click on 'Reply to post' [at the bottom].
Then you will see your reply page.
You will see a yellow box with a black arrow and some mountains on the format bar.
Click on this and then paste the link from photobucket between the two IMG tags.
Simple.
Then the picture can be enlarged for us all to see if we click on it.

Look forward to seeing your pics !

I know that photobucket works because I have been using it successfully for some time on another forum, so obviously I am doing something wrong. Don't worry, I will figure it out.

Just to check the other forum might use a different link.

So step number
1)Place mouse cursor over picture in photobucket (a popup then shows " email / direct link / HTML code / Img code"

2) Place mouse cursor over "IMG code" one so it highlights in blue.

3) Right click the highlighted "IMG code" so to bring up the cut and paste menu.

4) Click on copy.

5) Go to SCF post right click in your post then click on paste.

That is it. Do not add or change any thing after you paste.

Hope it helps.

I found my problem. My photos exceed the max allowable K the other forum I post on allows 513k this is 90. I am having trouble cropping that small. Even when I crop down to the perfs it is over 375k . My camera is a little Kodak. the smallest setting is 1.2. I then download to photobucket and crop there. I will keep trying.

When using photobucket that does not matter.

I think you are trying to use the forum pic post with photobucket maybe. Do not do this.

Try to post the way I showed and see what happens, do not click on SCF pic post.

Size is limited to 90kb when clicking on SCF pic tab because you are storing the picture on SCF site.

When you store on photobucket keep the size you want and because it does not store to the SCF site.

Try to post how I showed and even if a error leave it to show us then we can read the code to see what other problems you have.

Don't give up the ship!]

Dean

When you open your Photobucket default album you will see the box in the middle of the screen and in the blue insert is written 'Upload images and Videos'. Directly beneath this blue box there is a link to 'More Options'.
Click on this and size your pics to 15" screen [800x600].

Then follow my simple instructions in the 3rd post here.
It is very simple after one try you will be doing it with your eyes closed !!

I am trying again, This should be a picture of my favorite invert,It is Somali Coast sc# 41 The Scott catalogue does not value this issue, it says that it is traded to infrequently to be valued, and noted that forgeries exist.

A belated welcome to Stamp Community Forum, Dean!

May I ask which year catalog you are looking at? I've thumbed through several years and do not see the note that says the reason it is not valued is because it is traded too infrequently.

My understanding regarding why Scott does not list/price the invert is because of the history of the stamp. There is a very good and very old article on this history (translated from French).
http://www.apfelbauminc.com/library...dcolors.html

In a nutshell, the original inverts were not obtained through normal channels. Also, the inverts were subsequently unofficially reproduced in large quantities and sold directly to dealers. It is possible in most cases to distinguish the reproductions from the originals, but not that easy to do without a reference copy.

Scott's editorial policy does not recognize/catalog printer's waste. Scott does not rule the world. I believe Yvert DOES list and price the original invert. It is not listed in the Sellinger Inverted Center catalog.

Regarding the forgeries, Fournier produced some mint and used forgeries for other stamps in this set, but not for the one you showed (as far as I know). I am open to correction on that statement.

Still, it is a fun stamp to have!

I am using Scott 2004 classic. Since there was no value given for the inverted issue only the footnote, I went to the front of the book and looked under "understanding valuing notations" and found that the book says that " the absence of a retail value for a stamp does not necessarily suggest that the stamp is scarce or rare(this I knew) It goes on to say "In the U.S. listings, a dash in the value column means that the stamp is known in a stated form or variety, but information is either lacking or insufficient for purposes of establishing a usable catalogue value." It has been several years since I looked at this issues Scott notation and was going on memory when I posted this issue. the seldom traded notation is in the next paragraph but in reviewing I note that it requires italization.
Thanks for the responce and pointing that out.

If you've already scanned a stamp, and want to reduce the size for this board, I recommend FastStone Photo Resizer

Yes, that notation ONLY applies if Scott has actually given the stamp a catalog number.

When no price is given, that usually means the stamp is not known to still exist in that condition (i.e., mint, used...).

When the price is a dash, that usually means insufficient information to provide a price, but the stamp is known to exist in that condition.

When the price is italicized, that usually means specific conditions (e.g., should be certified as postally used...), unusual price volatility (i.e., speculation), insufficient recent sales information...

It takes a while to figure out all of Scott's little notation schemes. Of course, once you figure it out, then you realize Scott does not follow their editorial policy consistently!
