I was wondering if anyone has had experience selling, or consigning a collection to Dutch Country Auctions.
Im a former childhood collector, and I inherited my uncles fairly large lower to mid level collection.
Approximately 100 albums, binders, stockbooks.
A lot of mint, unhinged from late 70's to late 80's from countries such as Japan, France, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man.
World wide collection, with a large footprint.
I've catalogue a lot of it and I believe the catlog value ( which I know is a small percentage to selling value) falls possibly somewhere between 50 and 75k.
I don't believe it's right for a Kelleher, Siegel, etc, because it's more mid level with lots of volume.
I live close enough where I could drive to Dutch auctions and let them look through it, etc.
Does anyone know or have experience of their integrity with people's collections in the appraisal, consignment and auction process.?
My concerns are that with the sheer volume of the collection, I can't obviously note everything that's there and worry about stamps that could be valuable, or just large amounts, 'falling through the cracks'
Any advice or experience wit Dutch Country A
Auctions, or suggestions on other places to use (obviously cost of shipping collection would be prohibitive, approx 22 cartons) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello. Do bear in mind that some stamp-issuing entities, such as the British territories, are pretty much a drug in the market these days. A decent mint collection of Jersey or IoM would fetch around £40 in an auction here. Similarly, modern French material is always available at relatively low prices. On the other hand, as other threads here will tell you, this is a good time to dispose of stamps, with buyers sitting at home with cash and fewer means if spending it than usual. Good luck!

A dealer friend of mine was asked to sell a 20 volume British Colony collection that cataloged $180K so he sent it to a big NYC auction house. They told him it wasn't their type of material but they could offer him $5000 cash. He said no and we took it to Dutch Country. They broke it down into over 100 lots and he netted $40K. I think Dutch Country would be a good choice for you. They've always treated me well.
