https://www.ebay.com/itm/1926-US-Re...AOSwpV9fF2xQGiven the number of bad 634b certificates(and the fact that Siegel has sold less than 5 of these over their survey period) why would someone bid over $100 bucks for an uncertified plate that is 99.9% certainty a $5 CV item? Shipped from Cardiff by the Sea in California. I call it transmitted BS by the Boatload from prison. Bob

It absolutely is a $5 item; according to the Stamp Smarter plate number search, this number was only used for 634. |

The Cartel does so much damage and yet when I post a new topic about it every so often people ask what it is. The topics never get that much traffic either nor do they garner many replies other than the occasional member advising that the buyers "need to be more educated". It really does seem as if the popular view is to let the cartel operate in shade. Sunshine is the best disinfectant and this BS needs to be thoroughly examined on page one of all the philatelic publications and bulletins. And it should be a sticky on the forum pages instead of fading out in a day or two. Pop Quiz Question: How many years has the Cartel been fleecing people on ebay? |

A big issue is the number of account and account names being used, simply saying 'cartel' or 'British cartel' does not help much even if the the thread is sticky. It has to be 'easy' to lookup and ID the ebay listings or it will not get used. If someone wants to make a cross reference of all the Cartel names with some links to previous threads I will make it sticky. I can also help keep it updated if folks send me new account name info. ebay feedback is easily manipulated to the point of being dubious at best. Not only does ebay remove feedbacks based upon their own unpublished criteria and upon request for 'good' sellers, but it is easy to build fake feedback and/or buy cheap items just for the purpose of malicious feedbacks. Even worse is the fact that there is a thriving 3rd party industry for the selling of existing ebay accounts. For a fee you can buy existing accounts with high 100% feedbacks even without ever selling a single thing. NOTE: the same issues with ebay feedback existing on other online feedback and review 'features'. There are people who make a living writing fake product reviews. And as seen recently in the news about 'seeds' being shipping to the US from China, there are organized methods for building fake online reviews this is called 'brushing'). Don |

Here are the two Cartel/Philip Ryle ebay seller ID's that are running now and have been running pretty much non-stop for years even as Philip Ryle went to prison: "bank-notes" https://www.ebay.com/sch/bank-notes....m1543.l2654"og_stamps" https://www.ebay.com/sch/og_stamps/....m1543.l2654"og_stamps" is currently in a mode that the cartel uses when they want to "park" their listings. The prices are all at or above catalog and there are no auctions running. That will change in short order, usually when another account such as "bank-notes" goes into "park" mode. At that time "og_stamps" will start listing auctions of high value material starting at 99 cents. Other cartel ID's that I am aware of are: "all.newdeals" (no longer a registered user) "bargain-discount-deals" (no longer a registered user) "best-low-prices" (no longer a registered user) "collect04" (no longer a registered user) "numis_phil*" (no longer a registered user) "pan_pacific" (no longer a registered user) I have no doubt that other accounts exist for both selling and shill bidding. Others are welcome to add to the list. |

I see. It's also baffling to me that someone would spend a hundred + on a stamp without educating themselves about what they are buying. PT Barnum was right. A list of their usernames would be useful. |

I recorded a two 634b plate numbers a couple of years ago while expertizing, but the information is not immediately at hand. A few plate blocks have been expertized by PSE and and maybe by PF. I use the discovery copy and certified example for expertizing. The 634f lake listing is on a cover postmarked Oakland, Calif. is much darker. Since the stamp was listed a couple more copies have turned up including one that transitions top to bottom from lake to carmine. More research is needed. Other stamps listed as carmine lake or lake appear to be from the same period, close to when 634A plates were on press. |

Yup, these posts regarding the Cartel garner little interest. I think that I will put my efforts into other things. All the best to those that get burned.
Cheers |

Don't give up the fight, rogdcam. I recall xfstamps as another Ryle id, and also something like hmorgan10. |
