Some of you may be familiar with Liberty Stamp Shop on Hipstamp. The store started as a brick and mortar operation in The Chicago Loop after World War II. Later, Liberty became a mail-order operation, with a prominent store on Hipstamp featuring well over 100,000 individual offers. I have certainly done my share of commerce with Liberty.

Steve Eaton inherited the business from his parents. I noticed the other day that items I had placed in my cart were listed as no longer available. Upon checking his store, there were only 17 items still listed.

I learned today that unfortunately Steve had passed away on July 25th and Liberty Stamp, apparently, is no more.

RIP Steve.

I used to work downtown Chicago and frequent Liberty. You were asked what you wanted to look at such as Swiss souvenir sheets. You would then be given a Scott catalogue to further narrow down your choice. Out would come the souvenir sheets. Everything you could ever hope for and many multiples to choose from. They had the world in quantity and condition. I was constantly wowed. I was young and treated like royalty. RIP.

Sad to hear ... RIP.

I've bought many stamps from Liberty on Hipstamp/Bidstart over the years. They always had good selection and prices.
