Linns digital is my usual Saturday morning read. I couldn't access it yesterday and I'm having the same problem today (8/23). The page keeps timing out. I can access their website but no luck with the digital magazine. I tried my desktop, my Surface and my smartphone with the same results. I've cleaned out the cache, cookies and assorted junk. It didn't help. I'm running Win 10 and a Firefox browser. Everything was fine last week. Is it me or Linns? Thanks in advance. Dan

I am having the same type of problem with the Linn's from yesterday.
However, it turned out that my subscription ended as of Aug 29, 2020, and I did not get the usual email saying my copy was available.
I never received any type of alert that my subscription was about to expire.
While I have now renewed my subscription, and my account says I am now extended to August 2021, I DID NOT get an email confirmation of the renewal.
I did, however, then get the usual email inviting me to access it, I am getting the same time out you describe. But it goes nowhere and just spins until the timeout.
I guess I will have to talk with them in the morning.

Amos/Linn's failed to send my Saturday morning email with the magazine link. I too have been unable to access their digital edition. I did not find an explanation at Linns.com. However, there is an explanation at AmosAdvantage.com if a person watches the rotating graphics. Here is a direct link to the explanation AmosAdvantage.com/Media/Default/Images/Moving-Message-1140-470.jpgThe message reads, "WE'RE ON THE MOVE""Amos Media is currently moving offices and our web serves are coming with us. During this time, the website and phones will be unavailable starting on 8/20. Our team will be working hard to have everything back up and running as soon as possible." "We apologize for the inconvenience during this time." "Thank you in advance for your patience." |

Do you think they are actually hosting these locally on a server in their facility?
The error is server cannot be reached.
The site with older issues was up. |

I still haven't been able to access the digital magazine. My digital subscription expires in December. I think Bluejay2 nailed it. I'm going to wait a while to see what they do. Just for grins, I tried to access my online catalogs. Same problem! I can't wait to see how long this takes ..... Dan |

My link to the new digital issue of Linns for Sept 7, 2020 was working this morning. I hope others with this problem have been successful as well today. |

Great news that the Amos Media servers are back online.
I, however, need to correct my previous statement. Previously I stated that I did not receive the normal Saturday morning email notification. Upon checked into it further, I discovered that my weekly Linn's email message was in my SPAM folder. It arrived nine hours later than normal, then was flagged as SPAM.
Why was it classified as SPAM? Upon researching it, I identified a two-part answer. (1) Due to a 6-12 hour delay within Amos' servers, my email provider thought it was suspicious. (2) The email message was received from an Amos service at an IP address slightly beyond Amos' typical range of IP addresses. The new IP address utilized this Saturday is blatantly NOT on Amos' published list of IP addresses (aka SPF or Sender Policy Framework) and therefore presumed counterfeit. An analogy with stamp terminology: Imagine the postal service issued a stamp and publicly stated that they used plate numbers 1, 2, 3, and 5. If suddenly someone was selling stamps online with plate number 9, would they be suspected as counterfeit? |

Email server spam software is typically heuristic, it is no longer simply key word aware. How email spam software works and learns to ID spam is some of the best kept secrets in the IT world. (Obviously they do not want the 'bad guys' figuring out how to defeat the filtering.) I agree that the change in IP might have been one of the criteria but it is likely that many other criteria were also met. Don |
