Nic, The story is that the Pacific Crabs were tired of being mis-treated by the Tokelauan people, so they declared there independence, and issued stamps of course. Here is an overprint: |

A close relative to a stamp of "no fixed abode" must surely be a stamp of "no fixed denomination" Here is a modern series from New Zealand that holds its value forever. The following is an unexploded booklet. This series actually deserves a thread of it's own in that several variants have turned up already. i.e. It has been produced in booklet form, sheetlet form, a booklet of sheets form and in a boxed form, all of which have different perf variations. Hyderabad was always reluctant to put its name on its stamps, beginning with SG (and I'd imagine Scott) 1 |

I hesitate to intrude here, but the postage due stamp that khj has shown, quite clearly says PORTOMARKA, meaning postage due stamp (the same as Rod's stamp [SG D167]). No mention of Montenegro on these stamps. The original postage stamps indicated Kingdom of Montenegro across the top. |

Rod - I have a habit of making cut and paste collages of stuff that I come across online when I'm trying to find out info on a certain stamp. Here's the little cut and paste sheet that explains the first set you were asking about. I have another one showing examples of the pfennig stamps + info and I can't find it anywhere Grrrrrr... Pfennig should be German or possibly a German State. Post a picture and well see if we can help. |
