The first one is Scott 619 from 1945. Minimal value according to my 2009 catalogue.

The other looks like Japan Scott 61. I don't think that is an overprint, but a cancellation. Value would depend on whether postal or not. There may be others who would be able to provide that info.

Hope this helps.

Dale

You should consider investing in a set of Scott catalogues if you intend to continue this collection. Older editions can be had quite readily from ebay for cheap and will work for identifying older stamps.

There are a couple sites that can aid in identifying stamps. One I reference regularly for my own collection is Stamp World because it includes pictures of most issues which I find useful when a stamp's design does not include any year info.

I can't speak for others, but asking for help to ID a couple stamps is one thing. Asking to ID more than that may be an unreasonable request.

Just my two cents.

Dale
