What is the cheapest source that people have found for 5.5x8.5 3-ring sales pages?

I've got a good source for binders, put pages not so much.

The two major makers left appear to be G&K and HECO. I prefer the white background #1 pages (image below). They appear to be available either on paper or card stock.

I like the card stock pages over the paper as they hold up better over time.

Shipping costs usually kill you on the pricing, adding anywhere from $6 to $10 per box of 500. A couple of places offer flat rate shipping which makes it more cost effective to buy several boxes at once rather than just 1 or 2.

Prices I've found online:

ihobb: $39.99/500 (HECO black paper pages). Flat $9.95 shipping over $100

Wizard Supply: $46.79/500 (HECO white paper pages). Flat $9.95 shipping over $50

Maryland Stamp: $49.50/500 (black paper pages). $10-20 shipping

Maryland Stamp: $24.21/250 (white card stock). $10-20 shipping

ebay: $64.00/500 (including shipping, paper pages)

Subway: $35.26/500 + S&H (G&K paper pages)

Subway: $42.32/500 + S&H (G&K card stock pages)

Subway's shipping costs are very high compared to other vendors because they ramp up with increased quantity, i.e., they don't cap.

I always use Brooklyn Gallery.

$62.50/thousand for 5000 or more. $74.95 for 1000.

I've used Golden Valley Stamp & Coins for stamp supplies in the past and they were reasonable on shipping costs. Though it has been a while since I last ordered. (gvstamps.com)

I ran the numbers this morning using the 2 additional vendors provided and setting the quantity at 5,000 sheets to get Brookly Gallery's discounted price. For a couple of vendors I had to use smaller quantities since they only allow you to add to cart what they have in stock.

Of course, if you don't need or want 5,000 sheets, then Brooklyn Gallery's pricing jumps up, but is still likely towards the cheaper end of the spectrum.

Results from cheapest to most expensive, any coupon codes that might be out there notwithstanding.

Brookyln Gallery: $361.56 for 5,000 sheets ($36.16 per 500 net)

Subway paper stock: $390.42 for 5,000 sheets ($39.04 per 500 net)

ihobb: $329.87 for 4,000 sheets ($41.23 per 500 net)

mdstamp paper stock: $427.379 for 5,000 sheets ($42.38 per 500 net)

Wizard: $384.47 for 4,000 sheets ($48.06 per 500 net)

Subway card stock: $498.15 for 5,000 sheets ($49.82 per 500 net)

mdstamp card stock: $513.25 for 5,000 sheets ($51.33 per 500 net)

ebay: $531.10 for 5,000 sheets ($53.11 per 500 net)

gvstamps.com: $600.00 for 5,000 sheets ($60 per 500 net)

I will as soon as I receive the current order and it proves to be as advertised. It's a source I haven't ordered from before, so I don't want to potentially mislead people.

Ok, so I received my 7x9 binders today and am quite pleased.

I have plenty that have were part of various lots and collections over the years, many makes and models. Some have 2 internal pockets, most have 1 on the left, some have none. Most do not have any way to insert spine labels, meaning you have to use some sort of adhesive tape or labeler, which makes repurposing binders a pain in the tush.

The most prevalent style available today has 1 interior pocket on the left, and no spine label insert. 1-inch spines are the standard width, which depending on what you're storing, can be a bit narrow.

For reference, here is comparative pricing I found both individually, and for 24 units delivered including tax and shipping (which is the case quantity from the source I used). From most to least expensive:

Wizard Coin Supply. $9.39 each. Delivered price for 24: $235.91

Subway Stamp. $7.18 each. Delivered price for 24: $193.65

Brooklyn Gallery. $4.79 each. Delivered price for 24: $133.12

Maryland Stamp. $5.21 each. Delivered price for 24: $125.04

Amazon: $4.33 each. Delivered price for 24: $110.44

Before I go further, if you're just looking for a few 7x9 binders to hold 5.5x8.5 sales pages, Amazon is a great price and the price is $25.99 for a 6-pack. I cannot speak to the quality, but they appear to be similar to the ones I ultimately purchased. They also have 2 interior pockets and clear exterior pockets including the spine so for labeling you can just insert printed paper as well as a cover sheet if you want rather than messing with labelers, Sharpie, or tape.:

As I mention above, the ones I got were very similar to the Amazon binders, but what drew me to them is that they are available not only in the standard 1-inch spine width but also 1.5-inch spine width, which I love, since I can store more sheets per volume. They are available in either white or black (additional colors are available but special order and more expensive), and the case quantity (24) is approximately $82 with free shipping over $75. They also have a $10 off coupon for first-time customers.

My net cost after tax was $79.63 for a case of 24, or $3.32 per binder... and that was for the 1.5-inch spine versions. The standard 1-inch binders are about $2 less per case.

As with the Amazon binders, two interior pockets and clear exterior pockets all around for easy labeling. The metal wing assembly and push-tabs feel robust.

Here are some pictures I just took, including comparisons between the 1.5-inch spine and a standard 1-inch version. Other than spine width, the binder dimensions are about 1/8" taller and 1/3" deeper than the standard 1-inch binder.

Rev ~ Great post, thanks, and very timely. I just bought a complete set of the Higgins & Gage catalogue, but the binders the pages are in are old-looking and a little beat up.
Just to make sure these binders will work with the H&G pages, could you be so kind as to measure the space between two adjacent rings (on center)? If the measurement matches the old binders I have, I'll be investing post haste. Thanks !

2.75 inches. The binders fit standard dealer sales pages.

My Higgins & Gage set is spaced differently, 3.5 inches from ring to ring on center.

That was fast! Thanks!
Ugh...I was afraid of that. I'll check tomorrow (too lazy now) but I have a bad feeling that these binders won't match my H&G either, and so far, after some heavy searching, no luck.

Worst case scenario, if your H&G binders are the same proprietary spacing and modern binders don't exist for it, get a configurable 3-hole punch and re-punch the pages to fit this more-standard spacing.

Just measured mine. Yep, 3.5"OC

I have the three hole punch, just trying to avoid the extra work (and the pages don't end up with a good look). I think my worst case scenario is just leaving them in their crappy binders LOL.

FYI, if anyone is interested, bonding101.com has a 12% off coupon sitewide through 10/18, code 12COLUMDAY.

I just picked up a case of the standard 1-inch binders to go with the 1.5-inch binders I had gotten before, net shipped cost including sales tax = $3.23 per binder.

another way to add/change hole spacing is to make a simple wooden template drilled to the correct spacing and clamp it to your pages and drill new holes. when doing this remember to place something under the bottom so as to not mar the surface you are working on. this is an old time printers method that I have seen used.
