Ok people I would like an opinion on these examples. The first one is from a strip of ten with upper margins attached. Clearly a solid dark green is evident in the trees or bushes in the background. Now the rest of the examples come from another strip of 10 bottom margin attached. What is interesting that from one end of the strip to the other there is variry degree of missing dark green. Note the dark green on the left and right is consistent in color and does not show evidence of fading. All input is appreciated. Also the photos are not the best.......
Scott's has some interesting information. Variety 1384c is "light green omitted". There is a note at the end that says,
"Most examples of No. 1384c show orange where the offset green was. Value is for this variety. Examples without orange sell for more."
I'm not sure how many colors were used for this stamp, but it appears to be at least a dark green and light green, yellow, red and maybe orange? If you had a plate block of 10, it would have all of the colors shown.
The green on the side panels was printed by intaglio (engraved) while the green of the background was printed by offset, so they have nothing to do with each other and one can me weak while the other is strong.
