I was at a flea market at the Rhinebeck fairgrounds and a fellow had a large dollar box..covers , stamps, postcards, paper goods..everything a buck..i pulled out a P.R.O.C. booklet and paid my buck..when I got home I cataloged it..a booklet pane 1862a cataloged 57.50 and a souvineer sheet of horse and rider cataloged for $55.00 I just sold it to a fellow from Malaysia on ebay for $61.11...it happens when you have been around stamps awhile..i still prefer collecting to selling..but it helps with new purchases !!

Well done. those little wins make it all worthwhile. It's often worth making a blind offer on the WHOLE dollar box if you've got the cash. There's always a find or two to be made.

Jubilee, I did that at the same flea market a few years before..a fellow had a large box of covers..i pulled out a few Saar covers from the 1930s who knew what else I would find..he took 60 dollars for the box..the saar covers were worth almost half of that !!

That is one of great things about philately - you find a treasure you do not collect, and sell it to enhance your own collection - great find Philby.

This is a good lesson here for ALL Stamp collectors. Some of your best finds will be at places where you would not normally see stamps, such as a flea market or garage sale. Good job, Brother Phil!

David, correct...the flea market dealer cleans out an estate or something and he just wants quick turnover...one of the times a lifetime of looking at stamps and covers comes in handy!!
