Hi all,

I found my old stampbook dating to the early 80's (Australia) and was wondering if there is anything of worth in it or should I just chuck it out :-)

Cheers
Homer

Are you wishing to begin collecting again? It may or may not have monetary value, but it could have sentimental value. You must be a "Simpsons" fan or it is a coincidence. Interesting username.

Yep I am a simpsons fan:-)
I'm a little busy to continue collecting again and am in the process of trying to clean out some of my older posessions (we are talking 1981 here) as I tend to hang on to things a bit.

Having little spacein my current house some things just have to go :-)

Nothing inspiring there.
How about a random act of kindness?
Put a sticker on it "free to anyone" and pop it next to the stamp catalogues
at your Library.

So it has no physical value then? The stamps are worthless? I understand sentimental value is there though :-)

Oh good Homer
At auction, if that is a large chinese stock book (near A3)
we get $5-$10 for the stock book.
A small stock book near worthless.
The types of stamps you reveal, in a box of say 3000
would fetch $5 -$10
If you can imagine the pleasure a kid will get at the Library
when he finds the gift, would be the best value for me.

The only stamp I do not recognise is the Chinese issue top of the second bottom page. I have no idea what that is worth.

Homer... you have a wonderful childhood stamp collection. It's financial value is minimal, but I am sure there is sentimental value. I would not chuck the item.

I would suggest, the following:

1. Do you have a nephew or neighbour who collects stamps, or would be interested in collecting stamps? Perhaps you could give that collection to him or her.

2. Is there a Boy Scout or Girl Scout Troop in the neighbourhood? Stop by the meeting and have a chat to the Scoutmaster. Many folks get their start in stamp collecting in Scouting. I'm sure the Scoutmaster would be pleased to pass the collection along to a budding philatelist.

3. Put it on a table for $5 at your garage sale... some collector will buy it!

Good luck!

David

One of the SCF family members from down under is involved with a savage gang of hormonal Boy Scout stamp collectors. That might be a good place for them.

Then again, the library idea is also nice!
