Are there any postage stamps that depict ancient cylinder seals that were used in Sumer, Mesopotamia? If so, is there a list of such stamps? Does anyone have an example or two to show? Thanks for any suggestions on locating such stamps.

One suggestion would be to go to the ATA website. ATA is the American Topical Association

Thank you vayolene for the image of the Iranian stamp depicting a cylinder seal. I am hoping that this is not the only stamp ever to have been issued showing an example of such a seal! I am waiting to hear from the ATA regarding a likely checklist.

Some would regard these ancient seals as precursors of postage stamps.

The Cyrus Cylinder

It is written in Akkadian cuneiform script in 539 BC.
It was probably written at the order of the Persian king Cyrus the Great when he conquered Babylon.
It is now in the British Museum.
