Slania engraved the portrait of the new King Carl XVI Gustaf for
the definitive series beginning in 1974.

Various booklets and coils of the same design were issued.

After seeing Lithograving's beautiful Swedish booklets I found myself drawn to them so I found a few reasonably priced ones on ebay and my Secret Santa also sent me one.

These are now my favourite things to collect.

Even though the stamps on these souvenir cards issued by the Bureau of Printing and Engraving are not real stamps they do exhibit the fine art of engraving and I think fit rather well in this thread.

Really nice specimens there.
Funny that the Washington ones make no reference to USA, while the Columbus ones did.

Those Slania engravings from Sweden are quite nice. Mint versions of those stamps aren't normally that expensive so you should be able to find them if you look hard enough on ebay and/or Delcampe. Good luck!

I know I know it's not a stamp but I find the engraving on this US
$2 bill one of the best examples of engraving that I have ever seen.

Here are some Swedish Slania which many collectors believe was
one of the greatest engravers of all times.

But as can be seen from the US $2 bill above there have been many
great engravers in the past.

One of Slania's best work in my opinion.
I also like the colour chosen to print these stamps.

I've managed to pick up quite a few recently for an average of about £1 each

Anthony, that's way cheaper than what I paid for them 35 years ago
when one takes inflation in account.

Like I said before I wish I were just starting out collecting
since there are so many bargains out there nowadays.

Andrew, for some reason the BEP souvenir cards always have the
value indicator and frequently United States Postage omitted.

Compared to the USPS souvenir cards which show a facsimile
of the issued stamp.

Even the West German stamp on the USPS card below appears exactly as issued.

Very good theme!.

Spain have a lot of stamps engraved, until 1995 approx.
From 1995, Spain has issued(emitted) very few stamps engraved ... The Philatelic service say that it's very expensive.

One of my favorites "Spanish Arts, the glass" 1988
