All I wanted was some advice as im a learner with stamps are you always that arrogant I hope there are real people in the community i suppose all your stamps are perfect just like you . I dont care if they are worthless ill pass them on to anyone who want them .Hundreds more to sort .I know there are others that are not junk .Next time a novice member asks for some advice from a genuine stamper how about you keep your Arrogant opinion to yourself Jimmy |

Matt, some of us started with collections like that. Sadly, they are in very poor shape, and would be hard pressed to sell to anybody.
Their value lies in their story, if you have the curiosity, it can take you into a world of pleasure.
I started with those types, and bought a cheap $2 Stanley Gibbons stamp catalogue from a car boot sale. That really is a good way to start, look up each stamp, note the values, (most stamps in the world will be around 20c) and that's for good ones.
Gumtree will have heaps of catalogues for sale.

I assumed by the way you wrote the question that you were able to handle the answer. No insult or arrogance intended. |

Hi Matt, I started out just like you about 1 year ago. (wow - a year!). I even picked up my stamps with my grubby hands (yikes). Anyhow - I quickly took the advice of many on here and started to really research my stamps and learn. I also picked up a used Scott Catalogue for $20 (I have 3 now) which was the best thing I could have done. My stamps/Albums are definitely not perfect - I have tripped a lot and continue to. Anyhow - there is so much to learn and enjoy - I quickly realized that it was the journey that had the value - stamp collecting is truly a joy, an escape and a great History and Geography lesson. :) Show us more of your stamps! |

Like some other members here, I think asset-value-seekers should start on stampsmarter.com.
P.S.- I thought "Jimmy's" response was perfectly appropriate. |
