New here. I've just found these 5 stamps at my father's house. If I am correct, they are 1948 Postage Due, mint and tabbed (all are unused). Is this correct? If so, how can I determine a value on these?
Welcome! You can do one of several things. One would be to check with ebay and see what they sold for in the past. Another way would be to go to www.stampworld.com and see what they are listing for.
wlmar, the tab on an Israel stamp is on the bottom (there are a handful of exceptions). The tab usually contains descriptive information but for the issue you show the tab would be blank.
These stamps were printed in sheets of 100 (10x10) and only the bottom row of 10 would have the tab. So at best only 10% of the issue could have a tab. But in the early days of collecting Israel most people tore off the tab so it would fit in the space in their pre-printed album. The postage due set with tab is one of the handful of Israel issues worth big money.
My stamps came with a signed certified and numbered certificate from a known expert on opinions as to if a stamp is really what it's claimed ...... original gum, no repairs, alterations, forgeries etc.
