SC 36 Odd Recut. Is Anyone Familiar With It?

I have this Scott 36 with an odd looking recut/error on the inner line, upper right side just below the rosette. I have poured over Neinken's 12c book but can find nothing similar. Any ideas?

A few guesses: stray ink when printed? Stray cancel ink (although it looks different than the cancel on the stamp)? Foreign object in place when stamp was printed? Have you been able to otherwise plate it? I know I am not much help - I am at work (don't tell the boss....) and not near my materials.

Damaged and someone drew it in?

Hi Caper123, according to my reference,a Micarelli guide this is a Type 1, and is known with extensive recuttings on the frame lines. I do not have a Neinkens, but I figure it a better resource then mine.

Hard to tell from the images but at a minimum some sort of repair or drawing in of the design in addition to quite a bit if reperforating.

Don, Winston - you're the winners. Examined it under high power and there was just no way the design could be that out of whack and too strange to be an inking error. So, I soaked it in watermark fluid, and when it flashed the repair finally became visible. It was not visible to the naked eye or even under the scope without the fluid. It's on its way back to the seller tomorrow!
