How Useful Is This UV Source?

I used such a magnifier, and now ordered this one with built-in UV light.
Does anyone know what limit it might have in examining fluorescent stamps, and in general, why use philatelic dedicated UV lamps?

The dedicated ones work better on specific work. If using a UV light to see if there is tagging I suppose any "blacklight" will do, but if you really dig into specifics a dedicated unit is a must. Also in my experience the best thing to use is an AC powered unit. Battery units work OK with fresh batteries but go down fast when batteries age. Rechargable batteries do not seem to work good.

I've used this one for several years with good results.

Since I am not a specialist, I guess any UV source will do.
My main need is when there is the same stamp with and without luminescence. So far I witnessed it significantly in GB machines and West German definitives.
Here's another lamp, for a wider surface. the description says "3W LED UV Resin Curing Lamp 395NW UV". An advantage of this lamp and the previous one - they cost only a few dollars.
Is there a list of countries that use this feature?

The item you show is most likely a long wave UV source. Long wave doesn't work for tagging of US stamps but does for many foreign stamps I understand. Longwave UV also works well for luminescent ink and paper varieties. I find that LED sources don't work that well. They can be somewhat helpful at stamp shows. For home use, I find a fluorescent black light works best.

I do not know well the American stamps, for all I use a note detector at home (± 12 $) and another laptop for outside (± 8 $). They both have white and UV light, besides magnifying glass.

I also use the Lighthouse uv lamp and it works well for looking at stamps. I find, however, that if you wish to photograph a stamp under uv light, it doesn't seem to have the power to illuminate the whole stamp.
