Last post for the day! So I just wanted an opportunity to learn something here. I'm curious how to explain this stamp, is it over-inked a bad wipe,or damage from the cancellation? Thanks for any thoughts on this!
thank you bookbndrbob! I'm not sure about anything specialized :) but I do think being able to add extra details to the label(over inked) makes it more interesting for my collection i just wasn't sure if it was over inked or if something else was going on
I don't see any signs of running/compromised ink on the cancellation. It looks to me as if the viscosity of the printing ink was not quite right. It could have been solvent, or temperature related...or a dirty plate.
Just fella, In my opinion the stamp is over inked, but beyond that everything else is speculation.
I am just amazed that most of the stamps of this particular design are not over inked, since they were printed by typography and the horizontal shading lines are "hair thin". It has the appearance of a design that was custom-made to test the proficiency of the printers.
It is like Rachmaninov's music...designed to test the proficiency of the pianist.
i appreciate any and all opinions, thank you for your thoughts on this! I grow suspicious finding a few like this...one appears to be missing the P from post
