I have thousands of precancels, and I purchased 2 catalogs concerning the identification of precancels and it gives a price/value of each United States and its territories.

What I would be interested in is the following kind of catalogue, where the earliest precancel is listed numerically, and after that number is listed then list each town, city and State alphabetically.
There could be a section that shows all of the types of precancels, and also precancels that are dated precancels for Sears and Roebuck and Montgomery wards etc.

If I have a stock book, I usually place the same number stamps side by side.

So if I have a series of 553s it would be so much easier to look up the number in a catalog, and then have that catalog list all of the precancels and their values.

It would be a one stop shop and find situation, instead of looking 4 times by State, then by town or city, then by D L E and or dated, then by number.
A numerical listing, all in one place for each type of precanceled stamp!

If what you want is not here: https://www.precancels.com/publications/ then it is not available. Are your two catalogs from the Precancel Stamp Society?

They are offering e-versions now. Perhaps one set in a sortable spreadsheet format is not far off.

That said that is the place to inquire if what you want is available or can be created from an existing product.

Not sure I fully understand, but I think you re after a searchable database.

I personally think organisation in philately is an overlooked necessity.
Being new to United states collecting, I found this discipline also a bit awkward. (partly through ignorance)

I only have a few precancels, possibly around 500,
what I did was to scan each, then offer Cat# Scott "Type" then Location, in the scan's text string.

So if a Type#277 came across my desk, I just did a global search under precancels to see if I had the item, or a new type.

I've yet to find a decent Album Page that suits, I don't find Steiner really suits.
Welcome any suggestions.

Type #277

Would any of these be what you are looking for?

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.
