For those of you 'disappointed' with the recent Peterson Sale at Siegel's, they posted two upcoming sales, one of them (The Abramowitz Sale) is incredible. THIS guy shopped for quality. Multiple lots of NH $1 Trans Miss, stunning 4c and 8c Bluish Papers, OG 1847;s, etc, etc. There are plenty of the scarce coils (317, 318, 356, 491, etc), but none of the RARE coils as in the Peterson Sale. The Pan-Am Inverts are beautiful, better than so often offered. He was shopping for quality, and it shows.

I am off to check my Mega-Millions tickets...

Agree, the Abramowitz has fantastic quality items. Definitely went for great centering. Surprised that he had no Postage dues, or maybe they just aren't in this sale.

I am watching the sale, waiting for lots to bid on. I was blown away by some of the realizations. In particular, a USA C20 graded 100J (a stamp with a 'basic' SCV of a little over $1) and it sells for $4750. I was shocked when it reached $1000, and every increment after that just sucked the air out of my lungs!

ETA: I thought it was a 'nice' looking stamp - well centered, but I didn't think perfectly so. And the 'J'??? It must have JUST BARELY eked by their standard. I wouldn't have called it a Jumbo. I just didn't see that stamp as the epitome of C-20's. YMMV.

I had a good number of lots I would like, but barely even got a bid in. Demand has certainly not slackened. I wonder if the 2022 Scott Specialized will have an unusual lift next year. It just seems we are in a rising tide at the moment.

Hope some of you did better than I did in the auction. High quality and NH added extra zeros beyond my bidding capacity. Maybe I'll get something in the Crimson sale.

Watching both days and had several lots saved to bid on. I don't enter "Absentee" bids, just wait for the lots to go up and see if it's even worth trying for.

Short answer is nope lol.

For a personal collection? Definitely a ton of showcase material. For resale? Meh. Orbital prices and out of my league. Still....very interesting seeing what common issues with outstanding centering, perfs and gum go for, like the above mentioned C20.

Trust me, I have zero issues with what any person spends their hard earned (and some times not so hard earned) money on. In my little corner though, I simply cannot wrap my head around paying those prices for common yet strikingly beautiful and "rare or unique for condition" stamps. I also do not know people with garages of classic cars either so there's that.
