T.M.L. RY NO 1Exists: NO2 , NO 3. Also T.p.a. Numbers 1 through 6 TML = Tasmania Main Line https://www.stampsoftheworld.co.uk/...any_(AU-TAS)The Tasmanian Main Line Company (T.M.L.) was a privately owned railway company that existed in Tasmania from 1872 to 1890. The company were the first operators of rail services between Hobart and Launceston, where it connected with the Launceston and Western Railway (L.W.R.). PS Appears to be a late strike? Pmk shown in the link suggests last day of use =1908 ! |

John Hardinge's book 'Tasmanian Postal History: The Post Offices and their Datestamps' gives the latest recorded date for T.M.L Ry No.1 as 3rd February, 1912. |

In Tasmania : The Postal History and Postal Markings Part 2
Avery, Edwards , Ingles and Purves suggest 20th February 1912 (Page 134) But I felt is was open to interpretation, they, bunching the TML 1,2,3 in one quote. That was back in 1975
The Tasmanian Philatelic Society 2008, offered a NIL Rarity factors, to any of the 9 TPO Datestamps, found on Tasmanian Pictorials.

What is a NIL rarity factor? Is it really nil, which means minimal or nothing? |

Hi Orstampman, no nothing like that, just means reasonably common.
Roughly speaking Factors may go something like RRRRR 1-3 copies or, Known but not seen. RRRR 4-10 copies RRR not often seen RR scarce but not rare R limited numbers Blank (Nil) reasonably common.
Differing Authors . societies have their own rating systems.
