Is This "Spoiled" Stamp From Haiti Of Any Value

Is this Haitian stamp with the extra "spray" of ink (the lower stamp) of any value or is it worthless printers waste?

The design of another of same stamp has been transferred to your stamp either through poor storage or during the printing process. See the "150" and portion of "Independence" and portion of "Republic"?

I think it was during printing as I have a full sheet and several other stamps have the same xs ink.

Interesting. Since the excess ink is upside down and backwards from the top of the stamp, I'm guessing that immediately after printing, the top of the sheet bent or folded over to leave the small area of the impression.

The value of freaks is like anything else in collecting. It comes down to supply and demand.

Now I can see it. I have been looking at this for years!!! Thanks for pointing it out - it is so obvious now I know about it. The other affected stamps don't show the upside down letters and numbers.

I don't collect Haiti at all, but will try to add some clarification.

I have enclosed the clearest parts of the lettering in boxes, the corresponding areas of original and the extraneous ink.


Here is the clearest part of the extraneous ink area, rotated 180. It reads correctly, thus cannot be from a wet-ink folded-over


I would seek correction, but I suspect these were a rotary press product rather than sheet-fed, and the plates made by a photo-offset technology of some sort. It would be interesting to see addicted's versions to perhaps prove/disprove this as a constant plate variety or a production/handling freak.

I know it is not a constant printing as I have several sheets of these stamps and only two sheets show the extra ink.I can see letters on only 2 stamps. Only one is very obvious.

If it is of any interest I have "cut and paste" from a print (not the stamp!)
