I got this a couple hours ago. Way outside my usual selling area, this was a now no longer made shortwave radio, I was clear in the listing it was being sold for parts, went for $105, got a message from the buyer; his big thing is the supposed 'delay' in his getting this. He left bad feedback to which I replied. Buyer leaves more bad feedback than I've seen for awhile.
In the long run, this stuff disappears. Life goes on.

As has been mentioned many times, ebay Feedback system is badly flawed. The reasons for this are many and I doubt anyone wants to see them listed again. But common sense tells us that unhappy customers are a part of doing business and that unreasonable customers are a fact of life. The damage that the inane ebay feedback system has done is significant. And I am not talking about a seller who gets a negative from a grumpy old buyer, I am talking about the seller 'burnout' which occurs when sellers develop poor attitudes after dealing with the general public for a while. As a person who owned a retail store for many years I have first hand experience with this kind of burnout. The ebay feedback system contributes to seller burnout and the development of poor customer service attitudes. Ultimately we all should understand that we cannot control what others think and do, we only really control what goes on between our own ears. Don |

@Stamps1962
You can post reply feedback. Try, "As noted broken radio sold for parts/seller has no control over pandemic shipping speed."
Sorry about the experience. |

Quote: In the long run, this stuff disappears. Life goes on. That is a good attitude to take. When I was selling, I received about 1 negative for every 1000 transactions. There is absolutely nothing that can be done about that unsatisfied "cusstomer", but to block them and go onward. Occasionally, I was that unsatisfied customer too! |

Hi I used to buy on ebay. However, when they changed the feedback system to one where you could not really give a dealer a negative response. I stopped. In my mind the feedback system should follow the old adage "what is good for the goose is good for the gander". In general the sellers are great. There will always be some duds. The few I bought from unfortunately will not sell privately outside of ebay. Jerry B |

I always remember what my great grandfather said about complaints at his old general store in a small Indiana community. "Treat each customer right. They will tell there neighbor who will tell their neighbor, and so on. Treat one person badly and they will tell everyone they know about it."
The challenge is to meet everyone's expectation. Sadly, our new reality is full of folks who gripe. You can please some of the people none of the time .... |

I've been ignoring him, this morning he called me a 'pig'. My wife looked at his stuff and tells me he is mentally ill and to stop any interaction with him. I'd love to report him to ebay but doubt they even care now. |

I'd report him and take it as far as possible. Name calling? Abusive interaction? He needs a swift kick in the a$$ and it should be enough to get that neg removed. |

Would be finding out from ebay if this is a serial neg feedback buyer. Sounds like he has a back ground with your last description. |

Several pages of his feedbacks have 2-3 negatives. Bunch of dumb stuff. He's a perfectionist and seems to think we're all like him. |

can't rely on ebay to do anything. I've had one negative feedback recently, from someone who didn't get his lot in 5 days in the middle of the postal pandemic meltdown. So I asked him to remove it after he reported he received the lot (and paid for it, even though I had already paid the refund). He didn't, so I asked ebay to remove it. They declined, saying the feedback was a "matter of opinion." Sorry guys, receipt of a lot is not a "matter of opinion." Oh well, the only price is that my feedback shows as 99.9% instead of 100% for a year. There are worse fates. |

Maybe I'm a fool, but I trust a 99.9% feedback as much if not more than 100% (when I consider feedback at all). Given the number of entitled buyers out there, I would find 100% a little suspicious - like the feedback is just manufactured or the seller has arranged to remove any negatives. Kind of like a "democratic" election in an absolute dictatorship. |

I don't look at feedback when shopping. I am looking for postal history. I generally know what something is when I see it. There are seldom second or third copies available anywhere to price-shop, etc. A few days ago I found only the second copy of a very small town machine cancel hiding on the other side of a QSL radio card. I bought it immediately. I never looked at their feedback. I didn't care. A 98% score would not have changed my mind or actions. They had what I wanted and nobody else did. And I seldom check the tracking progress. Everything shows up in my mailbox in due course. No sweat. No stress. |

Oracle, You mean like the big stamp and coin seller in the Melbourne, Victoria suburbs that has a 100% positive feedback rating, but keeps it all private? The same one that basically harasses you if you try to leave anything other than positive feedback? Once had a buyer tell me that "he was going to come a get me" as the set of stamps that he bought wasn't as described. The set was sold as "MLH" and the buyer returned them as they weren't MUH. Forwarded the threat to ebay and they didn't do a thing. Years and years ago I sold a lot on ebay, but no longer do so. The worst country to sell to was China. Some of the crap that the buyers there tried to pull was amazing. Then believe it or not Canada. I had two items that went missing. Singapore was also another one. I ended up blocking China, India, Singapore, and Canada and never had another missing item. Never had any trouble with Italy or Russia. In fact with Russia I had an item that didn't show up and and I refunded the buyer. Six weeks later I got an email and payment from him when the item arrived. |
