I have been trying to identify this series of Japanese stamps and I'm having no luck. Any assistance would greatly be appreciated. I'm using the 3 sen mainly because its cleaner to see the total image better. Thanks everyone. ***Title Improved by Mod***

Thanks @billsey for the info. Unfortunately I don't have a revenue catalog for Japan. Would you happen to have an online resource or know of an area to go look at? |

I have ordered and paid for the Japanese Revenue Catalogue (circa $100) and anxiously awaiting its arrival to its new home. I'll post when it lands......... The SSJP -- Scandinavian Society for Japanese Philately -- regrettably dissolved in 2018, but its final chairman was indeed Anker Nielsen (same as the original author of the ISJP presentation), and he still maintains their website: http://ssjp.dk/index.htmlThey have a very nice set of reference pages for Japanese revenues here: http://eng.ssjp.dk/revenue/overviewrev.htmlThe only drawback to the revenue pages is that you already need to know what type of revenue it is in order to find the right page. (A little overview page would be fantastic, but I am grateful for the work already put into the site.) So I find I have to click around a bit to find the right category, but that's a good opportunity to see some of the other revenue stamp types as well. Hope this proves helpful, in addition to the other resources provided above. |

And Stamp Hunting, thanks for digging up the Kobayagawa catalog! I thought I knew what was available online, but I did not know about this resource.
And while I'm expressing gratitude, let me thank Rodney for causing me to learn a new Latin phrase today! I thought I was reasonably well-read and educated, but I had never heard of "Vade Mecum" before. Always good to get a touch of English boarding school! (Think I'll go fix a spot of tea!) |
