Has anybody ever written a article about his collection ? I am not interested in the two sentences everybody already knows .
Those two sentences are "Most complete worldwide collection ever " and the list of those five valuable stamps he had .
OK we know that, but how was it put together , how many binders ? Any of those album pages are intact ? We know his collection was sold at auction thru 14 catalogs ,are these single stamps or studies on a page ?
Has anybody written about or have access to those catalogs ? I guess I like to known what did he have ? You have to wonder was he a Hoarder or a Philatelist ,people have claim that he was cheated many times with bogus issues ,were they sold at auction too?

I seem to recall - perhaps from revcollector - that the APS has a set of the catalogues. |

The PF has a complete collection of the photos. They are in about 45 three ring binders, each containing about 200 photos, mostly of full pages. It's astounding to see. |

Quote: State College metro area I enjoyed a chuckle over that one! Been to APS/APRL in both State College and Bellefonte quite a number of times over the past 30+ years. Somehow I missed the "metro area" part. |

There does exist a reprint made in Germany of all of the Ferrary sales. The images are quite good as the photos were reprocessed with modern technology. It comes up on E-bay from time to time with an asking price around $200 plus shipping. It is actually better than the original catalogues.
For general information see Bierman's 30 page article in his "The World's Greatest Stamp Collectors" published by Linn's in 1990 |

@revcollector mentioned PF has 45 binders. What does PF stand for? Philatelic Foundation? I reached out to them, and they mentioned they only provide certification so I assume PF stands for sth else. Would you please clarify? Thanks |

Yes, it's the Philatelic Foundation. I imagine that it depended on exactly what question was asked. The PF does not buy or sell. But it's a non profit educational institution, I would think that if you called the director Larry Lyons, you might be able to make an appointment to see them. |

@revcollector I asked them that I am interested to know if they have the picture of stamps Ferrari had in his collection from Persia, which they can send me, since I could not find such pics anywhere else. Larry responded they do not have the pics and mentioned they are an expertizing service. |

Then that is the case. I have never seen everything in all the books, so if he says that they are not there, then they are not there. |
