It comprises exposed ophiolite sequence including pillow basalt and other extrusive rocks (shown in the stamp), as well as a sliver of ultramafic rocks from the Earth's upper mantle.  |

Australian Antarctic Territory 1984 Landscapes Mt Coates is a peak in the Transantarctic Mountains and is close to the coast of Ross Sea. It comprises Jurassic basaltic rocks which were uplifted and eroded during Tertiary.  |

Australian Antarctic Territory 2013 Landscapes David Range belongs to the Framnes Mountains located near the Mawson Coast. It comprises Precambrian charnockite which intruded into older metamorphic rocks. Mt Parsons is located at the northern end of David Range, with a volcanic neck named Fang Peak.   |

Norway 1985 From Queen Maud Land - Antarctica Hoggestabben Butte is located in the Mühlig-Hofmann Mountains. This prominent monzonite outcrop stands at 2410 m above sea level.  |

Norway 2019 Queen Maud Land Holtanna Peak is located in the eastern part of Fenriskjeften Mountain. This colossal wind-carved charnockite outcrop stands at 2650 m above sea level with a small cirque glacier on its east side.  |

French Southern and Antarctic Territories 2020 Landscapes Doigt de Sainte-Anne is a volcanic neck made of phonolite. The sharp peak is located on the edge of Larose bay, in Grande Terre, the main island of the Kerguelen archipelago.  |

French Southern and Antarctic Territories 2018 Landscapes Saint Paul Island is located near the southern end of the East Indian Ocean Ridge. It is composed of an older tuff cone surmounted by a basaltic stratovolcano with a caldera. The NE half of the volcano is submerged, with La Quille Rock standing above the surface.  |

French Southern and Antarctic Territories 2020 & 2001 Landscapes The Crozet Islands on the Antarctic Plate were created by a hotspot. Possession Island (9 million years old) features rugged landscape of basalt formation cut by deep glaciated valleys. The Apostle Islets (5 million years old) are relatively small outcrops of alkali basalt.   |

Argentina 1980 75 Years of Orcadas Base in Antarctica South Orkney Islands sit on a small piece of continental crust on the Antarctic-Scotia Plate boundary. The islands are composed mainly of Permian and Triassic greywacke and shale formations with different degrees of metamorphism.  |

United Nations (Geneva) 2002 International Year of Mountains Mount Vinson (elevation 4892 m) is the highest peak in Antarctica. It lies in the north part of Vinson Massif near the coast of western Antarctica. The mountain comprises steeply inclined Paleozoic strata of sandstones and argillites. The rocks at the crest of Mount Vinson contain Devonian fossils.  |
