2cent Harding Stamp In A Collection

If you're asking if it's a rare variety of that stamp, what are the odds that an average collector with a modest stamp budget using a modest album would own a rare stamp? Of course, it does happen but it's in the category of a "million to one" shot. So, it's 99.9% likely not to be the rare variety, I'd say. But you never know . . . . .

Read the info at the link that Don gave you. Then apply what you learn there to your stamp. While differentiating between the common & rare varieties of the 2-cent black Harding may initially appear daunting, it really isn't all that difficult.
There are essentially two chores.
(1) determining the type of press used to produce the stamp ... flat plate (common) or rotary (possibly rare, probably common).
(2) determining the perforation gauge of the stamp ... perf 10 (common) or perf 11 (common if flat plate, rare if rotary).
Note that all perf 10 Hardings are rotary press stamps.
