Hello,
I have 5 King George stamps, overprinted with 'Pakistan' that I might be interested in selling. From the best of my research over the internet, it seems that these are the "error" prints, the real ones look like here:
http://www.pakistanphilately.com/pak-ser.htm

The only pricing I have been able to obtain is from here (I know these are different than mine, these have less wide overprints):
http://www.prestigephilately.com/cats.p ... code=bpaki
Lot 157.

My research tells me there is a book that might be helpful in determining the rarity of these which is Pakistan Overprints on Indian Stamps 1947-1949 By UAG Isani and Col D.R.Martin but it would be impossible for me to get this book.
Can someone provide me with better information in terms of pricing?

Thanks!

Early Pakistan overprints were also done locally, with many varieties. You need an expert to separate the fakes from the real ones. I have been looking for a reference for these for a few years (I specialise in the KGVI reign of the Commonwealth). If I find one, I'll let you know!

Hi David,
Thanks for the reply. I am sure you have looked at the book I mention above, this gives description of the varieties that were produced, their quantities and other useful information.
As far as an expert to validate fakes from real ones, I dont know much. I suspect there are dealers in Pakistan who do this but I would probably not trust them :) (Im from PK originally myself)...

What valuations do validated ones go for (Im guessing lots of factors are involved in this, but I am looking to have an idea of if valuation is worth the cost)?

No idea on value.... other than Scott's catalogue for the regular ones. Most dealers assume they are forgeries and run away from them.
