British Two Pence "Bill Or Note" . Documentary Stamp?

I assume this is a British revenue stamp, what would be called a "documentary stamp" in the US. I have it on a 1953 transaction document. Can anyone correct or tell me more about it? Thanks, I would appreciate your help,

They are a type of revenue/tax stamp as in the UK we pay "Stamp duty" which is a government tax to register legal documents, and the most common is for houses or other property.
The tax has increased to very high levels over the years and is still collected as stamp duty when you purchase a house. During covid there was a stamp duty holiday when the tax was reduced , but it has gone back in stages to the original high levels. Not sure if the documents still get an actual stamp when the tax is collected now.
I had some early ones on some legal documents but sold them some years ago.
