Thank you very much rlsny and ray.mac. In this short time I have already learned a lot from both of you. Not only have you told what you think about them but you have shared your knowledge on what there is to see and how to reach the conclusion.
What we seem to have consensus (at least two opinion for and none against) so far is that 12 cent Washington has F grill (#97).
For 2 cent Jackson the consensus seems to be that it has not Z grill. No one has suggested D grill, so that is out, too. So, it has either F or E grill. The missing pimple is against the F grill, but so far we do not seem have a consensus that it excludes the possibility of F grill.
As I return the stamps to the owner today, I assume this is as far as we can get with this.
I am aware that the pictures with horizontal light were far from perfect. However, I think that I counted my self 12 ridges in both. That would match F grill but would not exclude E grill, as I may have missed something.
So, the 2 cent Jackson will go back as either E or F grill.
