18If we are talking about original discoveries, I found the original example of REA199 when I was 18(there are 2 known now). Alas, that was long before beer stamps were listed in Scott.

Tipzi, you are undoubtedly the king of finds!!!!! Those are some unbelievable discoveries of U. S. classics that you have unearthed and I am envious. However, when you say "that 345V got PFC 554524 and is the only unique regularly-issued 20th century US stamp as far as I'm aware" I will have to say that to the best of my knowledge 423E is still unique.

Rhett, I didn't realize that 423E is unique. Something to be on the lookout for, because I've never found any of those compound perf stamps.

Tipzi, I've still got the scans you sent to me on the other 345s. Just looked at them a couple of days ago and was thinking I needed to check with you on their status. Hopefully they will come back good. If I had to money on it, It'd be on you finding those early coils eventually. As older material makes its way into the market they well may be out there. Glad your house has finally come together for you and yours.

Thanks, Dave. We're finally settled in. Regarding the #345V suite I sent to the PF recently, it was my hope that the pair would be examined first, being easier to expertize, and if found genuine the singles would then be compared to the pair as to whether the characteristics of the stripper and separation edges matched. Instead, it appears that the singles were examined by in-house staff and returned to me pretty quickly (as the common sheet stamp) while the pair was sent to outside experts (because it' still out). If the pair comes back as a genuine #345V then I'll have to resubmit the singles.
