I came across this small queen recently and thought it might be an early precancel. My Canada Precancel Catalogue shows a 2 bar, type A that looks like this one. The exception is that the catalogue indicates 5.0 mm between the bars. On this example they are 9.0 mm apart. Can anyone confirm or disprove that this is a precancelled small queen?

I have the 1983 Walburn catalog and there is no mention on the spacing between the 2 bars but if the example shown in the cat are real size bars they measure anywhere from 4.5 to 5 mm.

Hope someone else chimes in.

Keep in mind that not all precancel cancels are centered on the stamp. This could be the outer 'straight' bars of two Style 'U-35-V' cancels, the center 'wavy' line is just off the stamp to the left and right.

If you have a complete U-35 precancel then measure and compare the width of the straight bars. Your example has the precancel straight bars to be too straight/precise to be an 'A'.
