French Newspaper Revenue Stamps

I was always intrigued by newspaper revenue stamps. Some countries like France seemed to glue these stamps to the blank paper before the printing process. See sample of a French Journaux stamp below.
How many different countries did this and during what time periods?

I believe this was also a common practice in Austria. Finding examples of intact newwspaper pages with the preaffixed revenues still intact is tougher than one would think.

That's all I had as images, in 1000 newspaper stamps worldwide.

The colonial US had newspaper revenues, RM18-RM20.
