This is something that probably happens to some of us. We see something that we want to buy, but by procrastinating we miss the opportunity.

I went online this weekend and saw a stamp that interested me which was wrongly described as a cheaper variety than it was and I was just about to buy it. Then, I thought about a friend who needed it more than me to fill a space in something he was putting together.

I sent him an email with the link to buy this stamp telling him that I finally found what he was looking some time for. I heard back from him and he asked me if I was sure that it was the specific variety that he needed. I said yes and went on to describe what the differences were. Then he went online to buy it but someone had bought it already by this time. It even said that the seller accepted a lower offer than the listed price for it.

As a result, both of us lost out on buying this stamp and felt bad. Maybe I should have just bought this stamp and worked out something with him afterward. Who knows when something similar comes by again. The more I think about it the more funny and sad this was.

Wow-what a discussion we had on the stamp while the smart guy was the buyer who bought it by paying less for it. The world waits for no one. LOL

The second mouse gets the cheese!

But I agree, buy-it-now bargains need fast action. Secure it. Then figure out the next steps at leisure.

The second mouse had the knowledge to wait a bit before taking action. This equates to the philatelist who waits for the good certificate.

I fully agree that quick action is sometimes the way to go. It reminds me of the very interesting difference between knowledge and wisdom.

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing that you don't put tomato in fruit salad.

I agree that knowledge AND action are necessary and I would respectfully add wisdom.

Or put another way...
Knowledge gets you a good stamp at a fair price, wisdom gets you a life.

This has happened to me. Such a disappointment! I was kicking myself for weeks! However, I persistently searched and I luckily found the same stamp again and won it for a similar price.
