It looks as though I will be traveling before long and I wonder if anyone can suggest places of philatelic interest in Prague, Budapest or Vienna. Thiese could include museums, good dealers, or anything else for that matter. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Austria and Czechia?
Excellent decision!
Vienna: Go to the vending point of Österreichische Post at the address Fleischmarkt 19. The philateletic shop is on the first floor. And there is an interesting speciality – they should hold a selection of current special postmarks for whole Austria. By the time I visited them they had about at least 30 different - I chose a Vienne one.
Prague: Phantastic issues in Czechia! They are or better they have been (as they produce less and less) masters of stamps in intanglia print. But as they sell every issue since the separation from Slovakia in 1992, as long as it is on stock, you have a large variety of stamps to buy (at face value). I alone visited (two years ago) three perfectly stocked shops here:
- On the famous Hradschin itself - enter the complex, you will easily find the post. Large selection, special postmark. - In the main post office on Jindrisska- philateletic counter, about three meters width. Lots of material displayed. Pick and choose. - In the Museum of Czech Post at Novy Mlyne 1239 (a tiny small town house in the city): They don't display everything they have. But they have a catalogue at hand (was it a Zumstein?). You show from the catalogue what you want, they tell you if it is on stock.
The website is worth a visit. The stock is amazing (select "past issues" and go through year for year – the trick: you can't directly scroll down to 1992 but have to go back step by step, so when you choose 2017 open the scroll window again and go back another five years and so on. The offices of the philateletic service are on the west side of the river, I don't know if they allow visitors. Buy a tram ticket and find out.
Drop us a line about your impressions, when you were there.
