Just posting a random example from a collection I'm trying to gather more information on. Not sure if there are any value to these but it is an example of how the other stamps are stored and general condition.

Pushertee, in another post I answered your introduction. Here I can offer you a website so you can determine for yourself what you have. Go to www.stampworld.com . This is a website that lists virtually all stamps and prices them albeit pretty high. But at least you get some idea, Peter |

Early Persia has some value, but the area is rife with forgeries which are often vastly more common than the real thing. The page you have shown here would have some value but the stamps seem to have picked up the same wrinkling which has affected the page they are on, which will make them much less desirable. Also, can't see how well they have been hinged. Bottom-right for example, looks as if the stamp itself might be stuck to the page, near the top of the stamp, and if so, it's effectively worthless.
You can look up the prices, but do be aware yours may not match what you read, and if you have valuable ones, they could very well be forgeries. Better scans of your pages might help people here determine whether that is the case. |

This issue has not been forged as far as I know, but has been reprinted, another problem with collecting the country's earlier issues. The reprints are identified by having matte/dull overprinting, with a hinged set perhaps worth somewhat less than $10.
From the lighting of the image, these look like the reprints, but you should check for yourself. The genuine ones are pretty scarce and (I think) underpriced by Scott.

Its difficult to know the going rate for Persia/Iran as ebay prohibit their sale due to US embargo. Some auction houses also prohibit their sale same with antique persian rugs. |

Quote: The reprints are identified by having matte/dull overprinting, and the silver/gold borders will often overlap the design. |

Shapaw wrote: Quote:Its difficult to know the going rate for Persia/Iran as ebay prohibit their sale due to US embargo. Not so at all. First, ebay is not the market. There are a number of sellers of Iran stamps in the US including a member on SCF specializing in the country. Second, US ebay currently has over 300 lots of Iran listed under that name listed in "stamps", and not under spoofed names. Third and most important, the US embargo prohibits the importation of certain Iranian goods, not the sale of things Iranian already in the US. This sounds like Union Pacific railroad police telling me more than once, standing on public property, that I couldn't watch or photograph trains from there because the Patriot Act suspended the US Constitution. Not true at all on more than one level. |

I tried to sell some Iranian/Persian stamps on ebay uk and it would not list them with Iran in the title and when I fudged the title and called them Middle east stamps the listing was pulled by ebay after a few days |

When was this? This only happened for a short time some time ago, from what I recall. It is clearly not the case anymore if you bother to check. In any case, even with ebay barring sales of Iran stamps across all country platforms, it does not and did not make it impossible to buy Iranian stamps nor has it affected prices as far as I can tell. |

As mentioned, there are lots of Iran stamps available on other platforms - e.g. Hipstamp, Delcampe, auction houses.
I've sold a number of them mostly to US customers and demand seems pretty strong. Much the same as with Cuba, which I've found sells even better. |

If you review the listings on ebay, you will find that many if not most bot proof the country name in the title and descriptions. The most common is to preface the name with a 1 - such as - 1Persia. |

I collected this area in the past, but stopped and disposed of the collection because of the high risk of forgeries! |
