It depends upon the item and who will be looking at it. 90 days is not out of the question unless you are Chris Rupp or Siegel and may get preferential treatment.
I recently had a GB Scott #1 on folded letter authenticated and plated by PF, and it took just about 60 days. Pretty plan vanilla when it comes to items to certify.
1Typesetter - Good that you asked for an extension. Always worth the $ IMO. In 2020 I placed lots on extension from Rumsey, Spink and Kelleher, all of which came back with negative opinions. Two with alterations/repairs and one from Spink that was not even the correct Scott number. The only firm that I have never received a negative cert back from for extension material is Siegel.
