Hi I'm new to the hobby still have loads to learn . I have already put post up on some stamps and soaking got some great feedback. I'm now after some more feedback on four stamps I have found in a bag of lose stamps , I no there beat up but could they be a error it's like the stamp value number is messed up and has a darker line going down one side . Like I said there not in good condition but would be good to have a error in my collection. Kind regards

A so-called pre-decimal (1967) Machin.

It is a fold, not an error. It is damaged.

Ah, no. Pre-decimal. The value is a shilling: 1/-.

12 x 1d = 1s = 1 / -
20 x 1 / - = 240 x 1d = £ 1

The currency you have now, new pence, were introduced in 1970, officially replaced the old £sd coins on 15 February 1971.

1/- = 5p

This is rather a sad comment on our educational system. . However, Jacob Rees-Mogg doubtless has plans to return us to £sd, or perhaps groats and ducats.

I fear many youngsters here will not know what G means on a Dutch stamp.

I would gladly see those (and florins) back in circulation, Geoff.

OP must be very young to not have known of or considered the pre-decimal era. Fresh blood into the hobby, at least.
